Although Israel was classified as a developing country under the Climate Change Convention, the government has resolved to undertake activities to reduce emissions of greenhouses gases on the basis of the conclusions of an interministerial committee on climate change which was set up for this purpose. Ratification of the Kyoto Protocol will also allow Israel to benefit from the provisions of the CDM and to advance projects which support the principles of sustainable development. Israel ratified the Kyoto Protocol in February 2004 and established the CDM committee in April 2004. During the initial period of 2008-2012 Israel is not obliged to undertake any cut in emissions
