The primary products derived from the process are the asphalt (asphaltenes, hard and soft resins) and the deasphalted oil (DAO). The asphalt is used for road paving and the production of roof shingles. The DAO would either be dewaxed to produce lub oil base stock or fed into the FCC or Hydrocracker to produce distillate fuels (fuel oils). >
Deadweight tons are the measure, in long tons, of a tanker’s total capacity to carry cargo, bunkers, water, stores and people. A tanker’s capacity to carry crude or product cargo, in metric tons, is slightly less than its deadweight.
