Decision to either drill the well if it can be done economically or to drop the project
Cuttings from the drilling that are extracted together with the drilling fluid
A heavy tubular connector between drillpipe and a bit
The cutting or boring element used in drilling oil and gas wells. The mechanism that cuts into the ground layers to reach the gas deposit or to cut a core sample. Bits rotate 50-300 revolutions per minute depending upon the hardness of the strata through which it is boring. Most bits used in rotary drilling are roller-cone bits. The bit consists of the cutting elements and the circulating element. The circulating element permits the passage of drilling fluid and utilizes the hydraulic force of the fluid stream to improve drilling rates
