ISES has been serving the needs of the renewable energy community since its founding in 1954. A UN-accredited NGO present in more than 50 countries, the Society supports its members in the advancement of renewable energy technology, implementation and education all over the world. Goals of the Society include: Encouraging the use of renewable energy; Bringing together industries, individuals and institutions in support of Renewable Energy technologies – through communication, co-operation, support and exchange; Applying practical projects, technology transfer, education, training and support to the issue of global energy development; Stimulating and encouraging both fundamental and applied research in solar energy; Ensuring individual and community growth through support of private enterprise and empowerment in the area of Renewable Energy; Rapid access to information through tailor-made communication and exchange platforms utilising modern technology.
In light of the market interest to invest in energy shares in Israel after the Tamar natural gas discovery, a new company – E-Trader – was established on 17.8.09 to deal in digital options for a new energy index. The index will be calculated on a daily basis and will be offered to the public as call or put options on the index with daily trading options on Israeli energy shares. The index is the weighted average value of seven leading energy shares in Israel with special emphasis on oil and gas exploration companies: Isramco, Delek Energy, Delek Drilling, Avner, Naphtha, Delek Israel and Dor Alon. The index that was launched by E-Trader enables investors to invest in energy companies through the purchase of options in one of the most volatile markets of the Tel Aviv Stock Exchange.

The society acts to promote the science, technology and implementation of renewable energy. The society’s activities include organization of lectures, meetings and seminars relating to renewable energy, the exchange and distribution of knowledge between the various entities that deal in renewable energy and the public at large, cooperation with bodies in Israel and abroad that may help promote the society’s objectives and public activities to encourage and promote everything related to renewable energy in Israel. The society also acts as the formal branch in Israel of the International Solar Energy Society.
