Method of pipelaying that utilizes an almost vertical launch ramp, making the pipe configuration resemble a ‘J’. This configuration is suited to deep-water pipe laying

A human made structure built at right angles to a coastline and extending into the water. Jetties include coal jetties, fuel jetties, LNG jetties, etc.

Make a hole through the casing with a shaped charge of high explosives instead of a gun that fires projectiles. The loaded charges are lowered into the hole to the desired depth. Once detonated, the charges emit short, penetrating jets of high-velocity gases that cut holes in the casing and cement and some distance into the formation. Formation fluids then flow into the well bore through these perforations.

The nozzles (usually three in number) in the drill bit through which the drilling mud emerges from the drill string during drilling operations

A fuel used in aircraft. Jet fuel is obtained by distillation and sweetening. The latter removes all trace of mercaptans (very light molecules containing sulfur atoms). Jet fuel is a white product, so-called because it is transparent

A modified drill bit utilizing a hydraulic jet to increase the drilling rate.

A mechanical device used downhole to deliver an impact load to another downhole component, especially when that component is stuck

A mobile bottom-supported offshore drilling structure with columnar or open-truss legs that support the deck and hull.  When positioned over the drilling site, the bottoms of the legs rest on the seafloor.  A jackup rig is towed or propelled to a location with its legs up.  Once the legs are firmly positioned on the bottom, the deck and hull height are adjusted and leveled
