There are three main options available for the removal of offshore installations, in all cases the topside equipment and decks are removed which basically leaves the jacket structure to be disposed of.
The first option involves removing the jacket in its entirety. This is usually done in shallow waters with the jacket simply being cut at the seabed and lifted onto a barge. In deeper waters, the jacket can be cut a depth where it will not prove a hazard to shipping and the upper jacket structure is removed. The third option is to use explosives to topple the jacket onto the seabed where it will be left to form a natural reef. Obviously environmental considerations must play a part in deciding
the method.
Consumption by thefinal user of (1) energy products used for non-energy purposes, such as naphtha or natural gas used in petrochemicals; (2) non-energy products resulting from the production of energy products such as lubricants, whilte spirit, bitumen.
A method of analysis which is meant to aviod the disadvantages of a single line, quantitative forecast by using a qualitative framework consistingof several possible futures.
In studying the developmnt of energy supply and demand, the analysis adopts a global view, examining qualitative as well as quantitative variables, and looking at dynamic relationship between variables.
The analysis develops multiple futures from analysis of the effect of the current behavior and structure of the energy sector.
Part of the economy applied to energy problems. It takes into account teh analysis of energy supply and demand as well as the implementation of the means for ensuring coverage of teh energy needs in a national as well as an international context.
