A graphic display, with geologic time along the vertical axis and distance along the horizontal axis, to demonstrate the relative ages and geographic extent of strata or stratigraphic units in a given area. In addition, information from seismic data, well logs and rock samples, and biostratigraphic and lithostratigraphic information can be shown within each chronostratigraphic unit.

A long, continuous length of pipe wound on a spool. The technology allows tubing to be manufactured in a continuous coil without joints. Coiled tubing is inserted into the well down the production casing without the need for tongs, slips, or elevators. The pipe is straightened prior to pushing into a wellbore and rewound to coil the pipe back onto the transport and storage spool.

Once gas enters an LNG gasification terminal it is commingled with the gas of other consumers so that it is impossible to know which sources belong specifically to any particular consumer

A coupling used to join to lengths of pipe

Bringing a piece of equipment into action. It is the phase between construction and operation, namely when one ensures that the equipment (such as a pipeline) is mechanically, electrically complete, that control and instrumentation is operating and one introduces hydrocarbons into the process to commence operational processing.

The physical location where a local distribution company measures and receives gas from an upstream pipeline company. Citygates are important market centers for the pricing of natural gas

Rock detritus and soil accumulated at the foot of a slope

Petroleum development projects are committed when firm commitments have been made for the expenditures and activities needed to bring a discovered accumulation to the production stage. Undeveloped projects are committed only when it can be clearly demonstrated that there is intent to develop them and bring them to production. These commitments should be unconditional except for timing that may be dependent on previously committed projects
