The second law of thermodynamics tells us that the quality of energy is downgraded every time that energy is used in any process. This energy quality has been named exergy. The amount of energy in the universe remains constant (first law of thermodynamics) but exergy is constantly being used up. In the end, exergy will be used up in the universe and no processes will be able to take place
