Individual Risk measures the risk to an individual or to a group with the same exposure profile to the hazards.

The IR is expressed in units of probability per annum. The accepted index for acceptable risk is the probability of injury of 1e-6 years, namely a risk of 1 in a million years

Location specific risk is the risk of fatality from all hazards to an individual spending 100% of the time in a fixed location and assumed to be outside.
