Mostly jackup rigs
A platform rig is placed on a production platform and is similar to a modular land rig. The production platform’s crane is capable of lifting the modularized rig crane that subsequently sets the rig modules. The assembled rig has all the drilling, housing and support facilities necessary for drilling multiple production wells
Platforms cannot be moved like jackups. They are immobile and are typically made from steel or cement and are used to drill new development wells
