Gina Cohen has been active in Israel’s energy economy in general and its natural gas and electricity sectors in particular since 1998.

This is a decade which has witnessed the most extensive changes in the country’s energy sector, including discoveries of natural gas offshore Israel and Gaza and the signing of a gas sales agreement with Egypt; amendments to the country’s electricity regulations to enable the development of a private sector; the legislation of the first Natural Gas Law; the establishment of a governmental company to construct and operate the natural gas transmission system; the conversion by IEC of two power plants from fuel oil to natural gas and the gradual establishment of CCGTs; the publication of tenders for the construction and operation of natural gas distribution networks; the publication of tariffs and regulations for the establishment and operation of independent power plants and the publication of the first tender towards bringing LNG to Israel.
